The ASI585MM Pro is ZWO's latest deep-sky monochrome camera, designed to deliver advanced imaging performance at an affordable price. Featuring Sony's 4K CMOS sensor with STARVIS 2 technology, this camera is perfect for astrophotographers looking for versatility, it is not only suitable for DSO imaging, but also for solar, lunar and planetary photography.
4K Sony CMOS sensor with a 1/1.2″ format and 2.9µm pixels.
High Resolution 3840 x 2160 images (8.29MP).
Enhances sensitivity and dynamic range, delivering images with exceptional clarity and low noise.
Achieves 47fps at full resolution in high-speed mode, making it ideal for deep-sky, planetary, solar, and lunar imaging.
38.7ke-, nearly three times that of the IMX485 sensor, reducing overexposure and improving signal-to-noise ratio.
As low as 0.7e with High Conversion Gain (HCG) mode enabled, maintaining high dynamic range at high gain settings.
The ASI585MM Pro monochrome camera features an impressive peak quantum efficiency (QE) of up to 91%, ensuring exceptional light-gathering capability. Its enhanced sensitivity in the near-infrared (NIR) range makes it particularly well-suited for capturing broadband targets with strong NIR signals, such as M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy) and M83 (Southern Pinwheel Galaxy). Additionally, this increased NIR performance is ideal for planetary and lunar imaging when paired with an IR-Pass filter, allowing for sharper images by reducing the effects of atmospheric turbulence.
The camera's hardware eliminates amp glow, even during long exposures and at high gain, ensuring clean and smooth dark frames.
Integrated with a powerful two-stage TEC cooling system, the ASI585MM Pro can reduce the CMOS sensor temperature by up to 35°C below ambient, significantly reducing the dark current. Thereby, the improvement in signal to noise ratio (SNR) will result in clearer, sharper images of the deep sky, even with long exposures of hundreds of seconds.
The ASI585MM-P boasts a 512MB DDR3 memory buffer, enhancing performance and efficiency. This buffer accelerates data transfer and processing during image capture, reducing the risk of data loss or corruption. It also alleviates strain on the host computer's resources, ensuring smoother operation and maximizing creative potential during high-speed imaging sessions.
The camera includes many ports for convenient connection of additional equipment like a filter wheel, a guide camera or a motorized focuser.
With its small pixel size, TEC cooling and high framerate, the ASI585MM-P is suitable for deep-sky objects (DSOs) and planetary, solar, and lunar imaging, making it an all-in-one solution for astrophotographers.
The HGC high gain mode automatically activates at gain 252 to reduce read noise and maintain dynamic range, offering flexibility for a variety of imaging scenarios.
The ASI585MM Pro, already featuring a low dark current, demonstrates even further reduced dark current when cooling is utilized. Check the diagram below to view the significant reductions achieved with the cooling system.
Please note that the Delta T of 35°C is validated under an ambient temperature of 35°C and may vary with prolonged cooling system operation or changes in ambient temperature.
