The 10-30x Zoom Range and 50mm Objectives

The core of the UpClose G2's utility is its variable magnification. Start at 10x to scan a wide 225-foot field of view at 1000 yards, making it easy to locate wildlife or follow action at a sporting event. Once you've found your subject, a simple lever movement increases the power up to 30x, narrowing the field to 115 feet for a detailed, magnified view.

The large 50mm objective lenses are crucial for maintaining a usable image at higher magnifications. They gather significantly more light than 42mm or 30mm binoculars, which is measured by the Relative Brightness value of 25 at 10x. This results in brighter, clearer views, especially during the critical dawn and dusk hours when wildlife is most active.

Multi-Coated Lenses and BK7 Porro Prisms

Celestron uses multi-coated optics on the UpClose G2 to increase light transmission, reducing glare and improving contrast compared to uncoated lenses. This coating works in tandem with the classic Porro prism design, which provides a rich, three-dimensional image and is highly efficient at transmitting light.

The prisms are made from BK7 optical glass, a standard in many high-quality binoculars, ensuring the light path remains pure from the objective lens to your eye. The trade-off for this optical design is a larger physical profile, but the image quality and brightness are distinct advantages over many roof prism designs at a similar price point.

Engineered for field use, the UpClose G2 features a durable, rubber-armored chassis that weighs 28 oz (794 g). This protective covering provides a secure grip and can withstand bumps and scrapes during outdoor adventures. The water-resistant construction protects against unexpected rain showers or splashes.

• Comfort for Eyeglass Wearers: At 10x magnification, the eye relief is a very long 20mm, allowing most eyeglass wearers to see the entire field of view without removing their glasses. At 30x, the eye relief reduces to a still-usable 15mm.
• Customizable Fit: The interpupillary distance can be adjusted from 56mm to 72mm to match the spacing of your eyes. A diopter adjustment range of -4 to +8 allows you to fine-tune the focus for differences between your eyes.
