As a direct replacement for the original part, it ensures you can achieve the exacting polar alignment necessary for long-exposure astrophotography. Without this dowel, making the small, precise left-right movements required to center Polaris or use alignment tools becomes nearly impossible.

Precision Polar Alignment for the NYX-101 Mount

The key to sharp, untrailed astrophotos is a perfect polar alignment, and that alignment depends on minute, controlled adjustments in altitude and azimuth. The NYX-101 Azimuth Dowel engages with the mount's adjustment knobs to translate their rotation into smooth, backlash-free motion. This allows you to meticulously align the mount's axis with the celestial pole, a non-negotiable step for any serious imager using the NYX-101 mount.

What is the function of the NYX-101 Azimuth Dowel?

The Azimuth Dowel is the physical component that allows you to make fine side-to-side (azimuth) adjustments to your Pegasus Astro NYX-101 mount during polar alignment.
