The 240 W rating means the cable can safely carry that much power between a compatible power source and a single device that supports USB-C Power Delivery (PD) at that level, such as a high-performance mini PC. It does not distribute power to multiple devices on its own.

Is the 40 Gbps speed of the Pegasus Astro USB4 cable necessary for a guide camera?

No, a guide camera requires very little bandwidth. While this cable will work perfectly, its 40 Gbps capability is overkill for guiding alone. This cable is intended for primary imaging cameras, high-speed data storage, or devices that can leverage the full USB4 specification.

Why would I choose a 1 m Pegasus Astro USB4 cable instead of a longer one?

The 1 m length is optimal for on-telescope connections, such as from an imaging camera to a mini PC or from a focuser to a USB hub mounted on the OTA. This length minimizes cable drag and the risk of snagging, which can be a problem with longer cables running from the ground up to the mount.

Can I use this Pegasus Astro cable to connect my mini PC on the OTA to a powered USB hub?

Yes, this is an excellent use case. The Pegasus Astro USB4 cable provides a high-speed, reliable link between a computer and a hub.
