Its 7-position carousel accepts standard 2-inch mounted filters, secured for consistent, repeatable placement in the optical path. The wheel is powered and controlled via a single USB connection, simplifying cable management and integrating seamlessly with standard acquisition software via ASCOM and INDI drivers.

Optolong 2-Inch LRGB Filter Set: Foundational Color Imaging

Paired with the wheel is a complete set of 2-inch mounted LRGB filters from Optolong, the essential foundation for producing true-color astrophotos. This set includes Luminance, Red, Green, and Blue filters, allowing you to capture detailed monochrome data across the visible spectrum and combine them into a final color image. The 2-inch format is ideal for cameras with larger sensors, helping to prevent vignetting and ensure even illumination from edge to edge.

What is the advantage of the Indigo Filter Wheel's 7-position design?

The 7-position design provides significant flexibility. You would capture long exposures through the Luminance filter to record fine detail in the spiral arms and dust lanes. Shorter exposures through the Red, Green, and Blue filters would capture the color information, the yellowish core and blue-tinted star-forming regions, which you would then combine with the Luminance data for a detailed, full-color final image.

Is the 2-inch format necessary for my telescope?

The 2-inch filter format is highly recommended for telescopes with 2-inch focusers and for imaging cameras with APS-C or larger sensors.
