  • ZWO EOS-T2 II Lens Adapter for ASI Cameras

The ZWO EOS-T2 II adapter connects your Canon EF lenses to any ZWO camera, utilizing a two-part design with an included 5mm T2 extender to achieve perfect back focus for cameras requiring either 12.5mm or 17.5mm. This second-generation model features an improved locking mechanism for a rigid, flex-free connection to your M42-threaded camera body.

Dual Back Focus for 12.5mm and 17.5mm ZWO Cameras

This adapter is engineered to work with the two primary back focus standards across the ZWO camera lineup. By adding or removing the included 5mm T2 extender, you can ensure your Canon lens reaches infinity focus with nearly any ZWO camera.

    • 17.5mm Back Focus (Adapter Only): Use the main adapter body without the extender for all cooled ASI cameras, as well as uncooled models like the ASI174, ASI294, ASI183, ASI1600, ASI533, and ASI2600.
    • 12.5mm Back Focus (Adapter + Extender): Attach the 5mm T2 extender for smaller-format cameras, including the ASI120, ASI224, ASI290, ASI178, and ASI385.

Accepts 2" Filters for Lens-Based Narrowband Imaging

The interior of the EOS-T2 adapter is threaded to accept standard 2" (M48x0.75) astronomy filters. This critical feature allows you to use light pollution, LRGB, or narrowband filters directly with your high-quality camera lenses, opening up new possibilities for wide-field astrophotography from any location.

    Improved Gen II Locking Mechanism

As the second generation of this adapter, the EOS-T2 II features a redesigned and more robust locking mechanism. This ensures your Canon EF lens is held securely to the camera with zero rotational play or flexure, which is critical for maintaining sharp focus and consistent flat frames throughout an imaging session, even with heavier telephoto lenses.

  • How do I know if I need the 5mm extender for my ZWO camera with the EOS-T2 adapter?

The configuration depends entirely on your camera's native back focus. If you have a cooled ZWO camera or an uncooled model like the ASI1600/183/294/533/2600, you do not need the extender. These cameras have a 17.5mm back focus. If you have a smaller guide-style or planetary camera like the ASI120/224/290, you must use the included 5mm extender to reach the required 12.5mm back focus.

Can I control aperture or autofocus with the ZWO EOS-T2 adapter?

No. The ZWO EOS-T2 is a purely mechanical adapter. It does not have any electronic contacts to communicate with the Canon EF lens. You must set the aperture on the lens manually before attaching it to the adapter (if possible) or shoot wide open. Focusing must also be done manually using your imaging software's focusing aids.

Will this adapter work with Canon EF-S lenses?

This adapter is designed specifically for the Canon EF mount. While some EF-S lenses might physically attach, their rear element often protrudes further back, which can interfere with filters or the camera sensor window. We recommend using only EF-mount lenses to ensure compatibility and avoid potential damage.

How do I install a 2" filter with the ZWO EOS-T2 adapter?

The adapter has female M48x0.75 threads on the inside. Simply screw your 2" filter directly into these threads on the camera side of the adapter before attaching the adapter to your ZWO camera body. This places the filter in the optical path between the lens and the sensor.

I want to image the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) with my ASI533MC Pro and a Canon 135mm lens. What configuration do I use?

For your ASI533MC Pro, you will use the ZWO EOS-T2 adapter without the 5mm extender. The ASI533MC Pro has a native 17.5mm back focus, which the main adapter body is designed for. You can thread a 2" light pollution filter inside the adapter to help manage skyglow and improve contrast on M31.

Can I use the ZWO EOS-T2 adapter for all-sky imaging with a fisheye lens and my ASI178MC?

Yes, this is an excellent application. The ASI178MC has a 12.5mm back focus, so you must use the ZWO EOS-T2 adapter with the 5mm T2 extender attached. This combination will allow your Canon EF-mount fisheye lens to achieve proper infinity focus for capturing meteor showers or the entire Milky Way arch.
