PrimaLuceLab

PrimaLuceLab builds for the imager who wants the rig to run itself. The Italian manufacturer's central idea is that focus, rotation, power and control should all be handled by hardware on the telescope rather than by a laptop on a table, and their EAGLE control units, ESATTO focusers and ARCO rotators are designed as one integrated system. David Astro stocks PrimaLuceLab products in Canada, shipping from Canadian inventory.

We use this equipment on our own remote and semi-automated setups, so the advice we give on cabling, power budgeting and control software comes from running it through Canadian winters rather than from a brochure.

The PrimaLuceLab Automation Stack

PrimaLuceLab's components are designed to be stacked on the telescope itself, which removes most of the cable length between the mount and the computer and makes the whole rig easier to move and to leave running.

  • EAGLE control units: Ruggedized Windows computers that mount on the telescope, providing regulated 12 V power outputs, USB hubs and remote desktop control from a tablet or phone.
  • ESATTO robotic focusers: Absolute-position microfocusers with high load capacity and integrated temperature sensing, available in several drawtube sizes.
  • SESTO SENSO focus motors: Retrofit robotic focus for an existing focuser, adding absolute positioning without replacing the drawtube.
  • ARCO rotators: Camera rotation with position feedback, so framing and off-axis guide star selection can be automated rather than done by hand.

PrimaLuceLab in Canada — Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an EAGLE if I already have a laptop?
Not strictly. The advantage is that all cabling stays on the telescope and the mount only carries one power lead, which removes snags and shortens setup considerably. It also survives outdoor cold better than a consumer laptop.
ESATTO or SESTO SENSO?
SESTO SENSO motorizes the focuser you already have, which is the cheaper path. ESATTO replaces the drawtube entirely and gives higher load capacity and better mechanical precision, which matters with heavy imaging trains.
Does the system work in deep cold?
The hardware is built for outdoor use, but power draw rises and cable stiffness becomes a real problem below about minus 20. We advise on cable routing and strain relief for winter operation.
Is warranty service done in Canada?
Yes. As an authorized dealer we handle warranty and repair domestically, avoiding international shipping and customs paperwork.
