  • Shipping Crate for FlatFieldBox FFB

This custom shipping crate is the official, purpose-built solution for transporting the Baader Planetarium FlatFieldBox FFB. Each crate is made for one specific model, the FFB 450, 650, 850 or 1250mm, and is designed to securely house the unit, protecting its precision-engineered illumination surface and rigid frame from the shocks and stresses of transit. Whether you are receiving a new FlatFieldBox, relocating your observatory or sending the unit for service, this crate is an essential accessory for safeguarding the investment.

Purpose-Built Protection for a Precision Instrument

A FlatFieldBox is a sensitive optical tool whose value depends entirely on its perfectly uniform illumination. Standard shipping boxes cannot guarantee its safety. Each crate is a plywood crate with an 18 mm frame and a lid fastened with Spax screws, ordered together with its matching FFB model to protect the unit from impacts in transit.

  • Which crate do I need, and is it required to ship my Baader FlatFieldBox FFB?

Choose the crate that matches your FlatFieldBox model (FFB 450, 650, 850 or 1250); Baader sells one crate per FFB size. Due to their size and sensitivity, FlatFieldBoxes are shipped via freight, and the purpose-built crate must be ordered separately along with the FFB. It provides the necessary protection for the sensitive, uniform illumination surface, which a generic box cannot guarantee.

Can I use this shipping crate for long-term storage of my FFB?

While primarily designed for shipping, this crate offers excellent protection and can be used for storing your FlatFieldBox FFB when it is not installed in your observatory. It will keep the unit free from dust and protect it from accidental bumps.
