What is the Explore Scientific 12V Car Adapter for EXOS2GT used for?

This adapter is designed to power the Explore Scientific EXOS2GT German Equatorial Mount from a portable, regulated 12V DC power source. It is essential for operating the mount's motors for tracking and GoTo functions in the field.

Will this adapter work with my Explore Scientific mount that has the PMC-Eight system?

No. This adapter is specifically for the EXOS2GT mount. It is not compatible with and will not power any Explore Scientific mounts that use the PMC-Eight motion control system.

What are the power requirements for the EXOS2GT 12V adapter?

You must connect this adapter to a regulated 12V power supply with the proper female receptacle. Using an unregulated power source can damage the mount's electronics. The adapter's tip has a center-positive polarity.

Does the Explore Scientific 12V adapter have a long cord for field use?

Yes, the adapter features an extended cord designed to provide flexibility when setting up your telescope and mount. This extra length helps you position your power source away from the immediate observing area, reducing the risk of tripping or cable snags during an imaging session.

Can I use any 12V battery to power my EXOS2GT mount with this adapter?

You must use a regulated 12V power source. While many deep-cycle batteries and portable power tanks work well, connecting directly to a standard car battery without a regulator is not recommended, as voltage fluctuations can harm the mount's sensitive electronics.

I lost the power cable for my EXOS2GT mount at a star party; is this the correct replacement?

Yes, this is the official Explore Scientific power adapter for the EXOS2GT mount. It is the correct and recommended replacement to ensure safe and reliable operation of your mount.
