Which iOptron mounts are compatible with the 1.25" Tripod?

This tripod is designed for iOptron's line of portable mounts, including the SkyGuider Pro, SkyTracker Pro, iPANO panoramic head, and the Cube series of alt-azimuth mounts. It uses a standard 3/8"-16 mounting bolt, which is common to most astronomical mounts in this weight class.

How is the iOptron 1.25" Tripod better than a camera tripod for my SkyGuider Pro?

The primary advantage is stability. The 1.25" stainless steel legs are far more effective at damping vibrations than the thinner aluminum legs of most photo tripods. A stable tripod is crucial for astrophotography to prevent blurred or trailed stars, and this model provides a much more rigid foundation for long exposures.

Can I use the iOptron 1.25" Tripod on uneven terrain for my SkyTracker?

Yes. The adjustable 2-section legs allow you to independently change the length of each leg, making it easy to level the tripod head on slopes or uneven ground. The wide 40" leg spread also adds significant stability on non-level surfaces.

Is the maximum height of 42.5" tall enough for visual use?

The 42.5" maximum height is generally comfortable for use while seated in an observing chair. For standing use, you may need to bend slightly depending on your height and the angle of the telescope. The tripod is primarily designed to provide a stable, low-profile platform for wide-field imaging, where operators are often seated with a laptop.

What is the mounting thread size on the iOptron 1.25" Tripod?

The tripod comes standard with a 3/8"-16 mounting thread. This is the larger of the two common tripod thread sizes and is standard for most astronomical mounts and heavy-duty camera heads.

How portable is the iOptron 1.25" Tripod for carrying to a dark sky site?

The tripod is designed for portability. It weighs 5 lbs (2.3 kg) and folds down to a length of 27 inches. This compact size and manageable weight make it practical to carry along with your mount and camera gear for trips away from city lights.
