This Arca-Swiss compatible quick release base plate (#3683) is one of the optional accessories iOptron lists for its PST Micro Tracker (#3680) camera tracking mount. As standard, the tracker body connects to its base through a Vixen type dovetail bar with a 3/8"-16 socket and a 1/4"-20 converter.

With this plate, the PST Micro Tracker can be clamped into Arca-Swiss compatible photographic ball heads and tripod clamps and released again without threading it on and off a tripod bolt.

Which mounts are compatible with this PST Arca-Swiss plate?
This plate is compatible with virtually any tripod head, fluid head, or mount saddle that uses an Arca-Swiss style clamp. This is a very common standard on photographic equipment but is different from the Vixen-style or Losmandy-style dovetails used on many dedicated astronomy mounts.
Can I use this Arca-Swiss plate to mount my PST on a Vixen-style saddle?
No. This plate is made for Arca-Swiss style clamps, not Vixen-style saddles. For a Vixen-style saddle, use the PST Micro Tracker's standard Vixen type dovetail bar.
Why use this Arca-Swiss plate for the PST instead of the standard 1/4"-20 thread?
An Arca-Swiss plate lets you clamp the tracker into a compatible head and release it quickly, without threading it on and off a tripod bolt.
