    The iOptron AZ Mount Pro packs a 33 lb primary payload capacity into a portable 13 lb die-cast aluminum mount head, with room for a second 10 lb instrument on the opposite side. Its integrated 32-channel GPS and position sensors enable true "Level and Go" alignment, the internal 11.1V, 4.4Ah Li-ion battery delivers up to 10 hours of untethered observing, and the built-in WiFi lets you command the mount from your phone or tablet. Navigate to over 212,000 objects with the Go2Nova® 8407 controller and slew at up to 10°/sec. The AZ Mount Pro is offered in three versions: as a head only for observers who already own a tripod or pier, with the 1.75" LiteRoc tripod, or with the iOptron Tri-Pier for maximum stability.

    33 lb Primary + 10 lb Secondary Payload on a 13 lb Head

    Engineered for both power and portability, the AZ Mount Pro head weighs just 13 lbs, including the counterweight shaft and battery, yet it carries a primary instrument of up to 33 lbs, an ideal match for 8" Schmidt-Cassegrains or 4-5" refractors. An optional secondary Vixen saddle adds a 10 lb payload position, perfect for pairing a high-power SCT with a wide-field refractor for outreach or multi-focal-length observing.

    Rigidity comes from die-cast aluminum construction and an aluminum worm wheel with a brass worm gear, driven through a synchronous belt by 128X microstep stepper motors. The 6" dual Losmandy/Vixen dovetail saddle provides secure, versatile mounting for a wide range of optical tubes without needing different adapters.

    "Level and Go": 32-Channel GPS Alignment without Polaris

    The AZ Mount Pro eliminates the most tedious parts of setup. Simply level the tripod or pier using the built-in level indicator and turn the mount on. An internal 32-channel GPS receiver automatically acquires your location and time, while position and angular detection sensors determine the telescope's orientation. There is no need to find north or point at alignment stars, which makes the mount an exceptional choice for balconies, backyards with obstructed views of the pole, or anyone who wants to start observing in minutes.

    Once aligned, the Go2Nova® 8407 hand controller gives you access to over 212,000 objects, with nine slew speeds from a precise 1x for centering to a rapid 2400x (~10°/sec). With a pointing and tracking resolution of 0.1 arc seconds and celestial, solar, lunar and user-defined tracking rates, objects are consistently placed in the eyepiece and tracked smoothly.

    10-Hour Internal Battery and Built-in WiFi Control

    Forget about external power tanks and tangled cables. The AZ Mount Pro features a built-in 11.1V, 4.4Ah rechargeable Li-ion battery that provides up to 10 hours of continuous operation at 20ºC, enough for a full night of tracking Jupiter and Saturn. A 100-240V battery charger is included with every version.

    Wireless control is built in, not an add-on. The integrated WiFi adapter connects the mount directly to your smartphone, tablet or computer, so you can tap on an object in SkySafari or iOptron Commander and send the mount there. PC control via the ASCOM platform opens the door to software such as N.I.N.A. or Stellarium, and a serial port handles firmware upgrades.

    Choose Your AZ Mount Pro Version

    Every version includes the same AZ Mount Pro head with 33 lb primary payload, internal battery, GPS, WiFi, Go2Nova 8407 hand controller and battery charger. They differ only in the support underneath and whether a counterweight is included.

    • AZ Mount Pro w/ LiteRoc Tripod: The complete grab-and-go package. The 1.75" LiteRoc tripod's stainless steel legs create a rigid, vibration-resistant platform, and a 10 lb counterweight is included for balancing heavier instruments such as an 8" SCT.
    • AZ Mount Pro w/ Tri-Pier: Pairs the head with the iOptron Tri-Pier, whose rigid, pier-like construction offers more stability and vibration damping than a conventional field tripod. The best choice for high-magnification planetary viewing, windy sites or long focal length instruments near the 33 lb limit. A 10 lb counterweight is included.
    • AZ Mount Pro Head Only: The mount head, hand controller and battery charger, for observers who already own a compatible tripod or pier. No tripod, pier or counterweight is included; the optional 10 lb counterweight (#3006-10) is recommended for heavier telescopes.

    The 33 lb primary payload capacity suits a wide range of popular instruments, including Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes up to 8 inches (like a Celestron C8), Maksutov-Cassegrains up to 7 inches, 4-5" apochromatic refractors and short, lightweight Newtonians. A 100mm f/7 refractor, typically 10-12 lbs, is handled with ease. A counterweight is recommended with heavier instruments like an 8" SCT to ensure proper balance and motor performance; it is included with the LiteRoc and Tri-Pier versions.

    How does the secondary payload saddle on the AZ Mount Pro work?

    Can I do astrophotography with the AZ Mount Pro?

    The AZ Mount Pro is excellent for planetary, lunar and solar imaging, and for short-exposure EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy) where you stack many exposures, typically under 30 seconds. As an alt-azimuth mount, however, it causes field rotation that trails stars in exposures longer than about 30-60 seconds. For long-exposure deep-sky imaging of nebulae and galaxies, a German equatorial mount is required.
