The Lacerta Crayford focuser upgrade was easy to install, despite the lack of printed instructions. I watched a video on YouTube and followed instructions I found in a search. It changed the feel of the focuser a bit, but it's for the better. As others have mentioned, you need to retain certain parts from the old focuser.
Firstly, it was very fast shipping time to Arizona. It was very easy to mount. The difference between the old and the new focuser was amazing. It brought the stars from a blast of light to a pinpoint that I could never do with the old focuser. I can actually see double stars separately. This product is a Godsend. Very well worth the price!
I upgraded the Crayford focuser on my Celestron Starsense Explorer, 10" dobsonian. There are no instructions with the Lacerta focuser, but I found easy to follow YouTube videos. Something to be aware of, is that you will likely need to use the focus shaft tensioner screw and pad from your original Crayford focuser, and insert them in the Lacerta. It was an easy process. I did call David Astro to be sure, and they confirmed it. They were very helpful. It's a solid, well made upgrade.
this is a fine piece of equipment. It is smooth. expensive but worth it if upgrading from a single speed focuser.
