  • Saddle Powerbox Puck for Skywatcher HEQ5 Mount

The Pegasus Astro Saddle Powerbox Puck provides a dedicated, secure mounting point for attaching the Saddle Powerbox directly to the head of a Sky-Watcher HEQ5 equatorial mount. This simple adapter is engineered to create a seamless, integrated power and data solution, eliminating the cable management challenges that arise from hanging external controllers. By co-locating your power hub with your telescope's saddle, you create a cleaner, more reliable imaging rig with significantly reduced risk of cable snags during a long night of tracking.

A Clean, Integrated Solution for HEQ5 Power Management

This puck replaces the standard hardware on your HEQ5 mount head, allowing the Pegasus Astro Saddle Powerbox to bolt on directly. The result is a setup that moves as a single unit, with power and USB ports located right where they are needed most. This simplifies your wiring, shortens cable runs to your camera and accessories, and prevents the kind of cable drag that can ruin a sub-exposure.

Designed for a perfect fit on the popular Sky-Watcher HEQ5 and compatible Orion-branded mounts, this adapter is the key to unlocking the full ergonomic potential of the Saddle Powerbox. It transforms your mount into a centralized hub for your entire imaging train, making setup faster and your entire system more robust.

  • What is the purpose of the Saddle Powerbox Puck for the HEQ5?

Its sole purpose is to provide a secure, direct attachment point for the Pegasus Astro Saddle Powerbox onto the head of a Sky-Watcher HEQ5 mount. This creates a clean, integrated unit, improving cable management and reducing the risk of snags.

Is the Saddle Powerbox Puck compatible with any other mounts?

The puck is designed specifically for the Sky-Watcher HEQ5 mount head. It is also compatible with Orion mounts that share the same mechanical design and mounting pattern, such as the Orion Sirius EQ-G.

Does installing the Saddle Powerbox Puck require permanent modification to my HEQ5 mount?

No, the installation is fully reversible. The puck utilizes existing mounting points on the HEQ5 head, typically replacing the stock dovetail clamp or other hardware. You can always revert to the original configuration if needed.

Do I need any special tools to install the Saddle Powerbox Puck?

Installation typically only requires standard hex keys or screwdrivers that you would already use for your astronomy equipment. All necessary mounting hardware to attach the puck to the mount should be included with the product.

Why use this puck instead of just attaching the Saddle Powerbox to my telescope?

Mounting the Powerbox directly to the HEQ5 mount head provides a more stable and permanent solution. It centralizes the connection point for power and data, which helps to minimize cable drag and prevent balance issues that can occur when adding accessories to the optical tube itself.

Will this work with a Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro mount?

No, this puck is specifically designed for the HEQ5 mount head's dimensions and bolt pattern. Different adapters are required for other mounts like the EQ6-R Pro.
