What is the main purpose of the Top Plate for Pocket Powerbox Advance?

The primary purpose of the Top Plate is to provide a rigid, secure surface for mounting additional equipment, such as a small form factor PC (like an Intel NUC), directly onto your Pocket Powerbox Advance. This helps create a compact, integrated control unit for your telescope.

Is this Top Plate compatible with all versions of the Pocket Powerbox Advance?

Yes, this plate is designed to be fully compatible with both the first generation (Gen1) and second generation (Gen2) of the Pocket Powerbox Advance (PPBADV).

What kind of devices can I mount on the Top Plate for Pocket Powerbox Advance?

It is specifically designed for small, lightweight devices. The most common use case is for mounting a small form factor (SFF) PC like an Intel NUC, ZWO ASIAIR, or Raspberry Pi, which are often used to control the imaging camera, mount, and other accessories.

How does the Top Plate for Pocket Powerbox Advance help with cable management?

By mounting your control PC directly on the Powerbox, you can use very short USB and power cables between the two devices. This consolidation minimizes the number of long cables running from your telescope back to a laptop, reducing the risk of snags and disconnects as the mount tracks across the sky.

I have an Intel NUC. Will it attach directly to the Top Plate for my Pocket Powerbox Advance?

The plate is designed with mounting patterns suitable for popular small form factor PCs like the Intel NUC. This allows for a direct and secure attachment without needing to drill custom holes, providing a clean and professional integration with your PPBADV.

What is the Top Plate for Pocket Powerbox Advance made of?

The plate is machined from a single piece of high-quality aluminum, ensuring it is both lightweight and strong enough to support attached equipment without flexing or vibrating.
