What telescopes are compatible with the PrimaLuceLab 80mm PLUS Support Rings?

These rings are designed for any telescope optical tube with an outer diameter of 80mm. This commonly includes compact refractors with apertures from 60mm to 70mm, as well as various finder scopes and guide scopes that match this dimension.

How do the 80mm PLUS Support Rings prevent flexure in my imaging setup?

Flexure is prevented by their construction. Each ring is CNC-machined from a single block of aluminum, creating a solid, non-flexible component. The integrated system of threaded holes allows you to bolt accessories directly to the rings, creating a single rigid assembly rather than stacking multiple adapters which can shift or bend under load.

Can I mount a guide scope using the PrimaLuceLab 80mm PLUS Support Rings?

Yes. You can attach a PLUS dovetail plate to the top of the 80mm rings and then add PLUS guide rings to that plate. This creates an exceptionally stable platform for your guide scope, ensuring there is no differential movement between your main telescope and your autoguider.

Do I need other PLUS components to use these 80mm support rings?

No, you can use them as a standalone upgrade. The central slots are designed to be compatible with standard screws, allowing you to attach most third-party Vixen or Losmandy plates. However, you will achieve the highest level of rigidity and modularity by using them with other PrimaLuceLab PLUS components.

What is the advantage of the PLUS system over standard mounting rings for my 60mm refractor?

For a 60mm refractor, standard rings typically only provide a way to attach the scope to a dovetail bar. The PrimaLuceLab 80mm PLUS Support Rings transform your telescope into a modular platform. You can rigidly attach your EAGLE computer, a guide scope, and other accessories directly to the ring assembly, improving balance, stability, and cable management.

How do I attach a Losmandy or Vixen plate to the PrimaLuceLab 80mm PLUS Support Rings?

You can attach a PrimaLuceLab PLUS Vixen or Losmandy plate directly to the rings using the provided threaded holes for a secure, bolt-on connection. If you are using a plate from another brand, you can use the central slots on the rings with standard screws to affix your plate.
