  • 3" Visual Back for ESATTO 3.5” LP

This visual back provides a robust and secure connection point for attaching any 3-inch nosepiece, eyepiece, or camera to your PrimaLuceLab ESATTO 3.5” LP robotic focuser. It is engineered specifically to handle the weight of demanding astrophotography setups while protecting your equipment from damage. The design integrates a non-marring brass compression ring and a multi-point locking system to guarantee a perfectly centered and rigid optical train.

Secure, Non-Marring Connection for 3" Accessories

When using heavy cameras or large format eyepieces, a simple thumbscrew is not enough to prevent flexure or slippage. This visual back uses multiple locking screws distributed around the collar, allowing you to apply even, firm pressure for a solid fit. Inside, a brass compression ring grips your accessory's barrel securely without leaving the scratches and gouges common with single-screw designs, preserving the finish on your valuable equipment.

  • What is the main function of the PrimaLuceLab 3" visual back for ESATTO 3.5" LP?

Its primary function is to adapt the M98 drawtube thread of the ESATTO 3.5" LP focuser so that it can accept accessories with a standard 3-inch nosepiece. This allows you to connect large format cameras, diagonals, and eyepieces directly to the focuser.

How does the 3" visual back prevent damage to eyepieces and camera nosepieces?

It features an internal brass compression ring. When you tighten the locking screws, this soft metal ring clamps down evenly around the barrel of your accessory. Unlike direct screw-on-barrel contact, this method avoids scratching, denting, or marring the surface of your equipment.

Is the ESATTO 3.5" LP visual back recommended for heavy imaging setups?

Yes. It is specifically designed for this purpose. The use of multiple locking screws provides a much more secure and stable connection than a single thumbscrew, preventing tilt and flexure even with heavy cameras, filter wheels, and off-axis guiders attached.

Which focuser does this 3" visual back connect to?

This adapter is designed exclusively for the PrimaLuceLab ESATTO 3.5” LP (Low Profile) robotic focuser. It will not fit other ESATTO models or focusers from other brands.

Does this adapter allow me to attach my ESATTO focuser to a Celestron EdgeHD telescope?

No, this is an output adapter, not an input adapter. This 3" visual back connects accessories to the drawtube of the ESATTO focuser. To connect the entire ESATTO focuser to the back of a telescope like a Celestron SCT or EdgeHD, you would need a separate telescope-side adapter.

If I'm imaging a large target like the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), why is a secure connection from this visual back important?

Imaging large targets like the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) often requires long exposures. Any amount of tilt or flexure in the imaging train, which can be caused by a weak accessory connection, will result in elongated or trailed stars, especially at the corners of the frame. The secure, multi-screw locking system of this visual back ensures your camera remains perfectly orthogonal to the light path, maintaining sharp stars across the entire field of view.
