Which Starlight Instruments focusers is this bracket compatible with?

This bracket is designed specifically for Starlight Instruments' larger helical rack and pinion focusers. You must select the correct base for your model: the FSB-CH-Bracket 2.5/3.0 fits 2.5" and 3.0" focusers, while the FSB-CH-Bracket 3.5 fits 3.5" focusers.

How do I use this Starlight Instruments Red Dot Finder to locate the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) on my telescope?

First, align the red dot finder with your main telescope during the day on a distant, fixed object. At night, look for the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) with your naked eye or binoculars. Then, while looking through the finder's window, move your telescope until the illuminated red dot is superimposed over the galaxy's visible core. M31 should now be in the field of view of a low-power eyepiece in your main telescope.

Does installing the Finder Scope Bracket require drilling new holes in my Feather Touch focuser?

No. The bracket is designed to use the pre-drilled and tapped mounting holes that are already present on the body of the 2.5", 3.0", and 3.5" Feather Touch focusers. Installation is a simple bolt-on process with no modification required.

What is the main advantage of using this Red Dot Finder on a large refractor with a 3.5" Feather Touch focuser?

On a large, long-focal-length refractor, the main telescope's field of view is very narrow, making it difficult to find objects. A red dot finder provides an intuitive, zero-magnification view that matches your naked-eye perspective, making it much faster to point the instrument to the correct area of the sky before switching to your main eyepiece for detailed observation.

Can I mount a different finder scope to this Starlight Instruments bracket?

This bracket is specifically designed to hold the included red dot finder. It does not feature a universal dovetail shoe, so compatibility with other optical finderscopes or pointing devices is not guaranteed without modification.

Is the included Red Dot Finder battery-powered?

Yes, like virtually all red dot finders, the illumination for the aiming reticle is powered by a small, user-replaceable battery. This allows you to adjust the brightness of the dot for optimal visibility against the night sky.
