David Astro Laser Collimator - 1.25"/2"
- For Newtonian reflectors
- Fits 1.25" and 2" focusers
- Usable in the dark
- Shows which mirror screws to adjust
The David Astro Laser Collimator helps you align the mirrors of a Newtonian reflector. It fits 1.25" and 2" focusers and sends a laser beam down the focuser to the mirrors, showing you which screws to adjust.
With the collimator in the focuser, adjust the secondary mirror until the laser spot lands on the centre mark of the primary mirror. Then adjust the primary mirror until the returning beam comes back to the centre of the collimator. Never look into the laser beam.
It is made for collimating Newtonian reflectors, including Dobsonians.
1.25" and 2" focusers.
A well collimated telescope gives tighter stars and better contrast and detail, which shows most at high magnification on planets and double stars.
Rotate it slowly in the focuser while watching the laser spot on the secondary mirror. If the spot traces a circle instead of staying still, the laser is not aligned with its barrel. Contact us if this happens.
Yes, used as intended. Never look into the beam and never point it at people, aircraft or vehicles.
