  • Pegasus Astro USB 3.1 Gen 2 Cable (Type-C to Type-B) - 0.5m

The Pegasus Astro USB 3.1 Gen 2 cable provides a full-speed 10 Gbps connection in a compact 0.5 m length, designed specifically for on-telescope cable management. Its robust construction uses 30 AWG data lines and 24 AWG power lines.

10 Gbps Data Rate for Modern Astronomy Cameras

Modern astronomy cameras and hubs move large amounts of data. This cable is rated for SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2), with a 30 AWG data line, a 24 AWG power line and up to 3 A output current.

    A 0.5m Length for Tangle-Free Telescope Setups

Designed to eliminate cable drag and snags, this 0.5 m cable connects equipment with a USB Type-B port to a USB Type-C port close by, for example a mini PC or hub mounted on the telescope. This short length keeps your setup clean and minimizes the risk of a cable catching on the mount during slewing or tracking.

  • What is the primary use for this 0.5m Pegasus Astro USB cable?

This cable is designed for on-telescope cable management. Its short 0.5 m length and USB-C to USB-B connectors suit short links between a USB Type-B port and a USB Type-C port mounted on the telescope, minimizing cable clutter and potential snags.

Will this Pegasus Astro 10 Gbps cable improve my camera's frame rate?

This cable will not increase your camera's maximum frame rate, but it ensures you can achieve it reliably. The 10 Gbps bandwidth prevents the cable from being a bottleneck, reducing the risk of dropped frames that can occur with lower-quality or slower-rated USB cables, especially when imaging at high resolutions.

For planetary imaging on Jupiter, is the 10 Gbps speed of this Pegasus Astro cable important?

Absolutely. High-resolution planetary imaging requires capturing thousands of frames at very high speeds. The 10 Gbps data rate of this cable ensures that the massive data stream from your camera reaches the capture computer without interruption, which is critical for techniques like lucky imaging on targets like Jupiter or Saturn.
