  • RB Focus SCT/Maksutov Adapter for Merlin Focusers

This RB Focus SCT/Maksutov Adapter is the dedicated mechanical bracket for automating your Schmidt-Cassegrain or Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope with an RB Focus electronic focuser. It is designed exclusively for the Merlin V3.0 and Myrddin V2.3 models, with versions for the Mak 127, Mak 150, Mak 180 and the C8, C9.25, C11 and C14.

For Merlin V3.0 & Myrddin V2.3 Focusers Only

This is a mounting bracket, not an optical adapter. It holds the RB Focus Merlin V3.0 or Myrddin V2.3 motor on your SCT or Maksutov, and the included coupler links the motor to the telescope's focusing mechanism.

7 Versions for SCTs and Maksutovs

RB Focus makes 7 versions of this adapter. Select the version for your telescope.

    • SCT Models: Versions are available for Celestron C8, C9.25, C11, and C14 optical tubes.
    • Maksutov Models: Versions are available for Mak 127 (visual back mount), Mak 150, and Mak 180 telescopes.

  • Can I use the RB Focus Adapter with another brand's focuser?

No. RB Focus states it is compatible only with its Merlin V3.0 and Myrddin V2.3 focusers.

Does the RB Focus SCT/Maksutov Adapter add any length to my optical train?

No. This is a purely mechanical bracket that mounts around the telescope's existing focusing knob. It does not sit in the optical path and has no effect on your back focus, spacing, or ability to reach focus with your camera and accessories.

How do I choose the correct version of the RB Focus adapter for my telescope?

Select the version named for your telescope: Mak 127 (visual back mount), Mak 150, Mak 180, C8, C9.25, C11 or C14.

Is this adapter compatible with older RB Focus Merlin focusers?

RB Focus lists only the Merlin V3.0 and Myrddin V2.3 as compatible.

What is the coupler included with the RB Focus adapter for?

The coupler links the Merlin's motor to the telescope's focusing mechanism so the motor can turn it.
