Vaonis Solar Filter for Vespera
Transform your Vaonis Vespera into a dedicated solar observatory with the Vaonis Solar Filter. This essential accessory unlocks daytime astronomy, allowing you to safely observe and photograph our closest star. The filter is engineered to integrate perfectly with the Vespera and its Singularity mobile app, providing a guided, safe, and engaging solar viewing session every time.
Unlock Daytime Astronomy: Observe the Sun with Your Vespera
Extend your astronomical sessions into the daylight hours. The Vaonis Solar Filter is constructed from glass with a dimming effect that reduces the intense light and radiation from the sun to a safe level for your Vespera's sensitive optics. This white-light filter reveals the Sun's photosphere, allowing you to clearly see and track sunspots—the dark, cooler areas that indicate magnetic activity.
Singularity App's Solar Mode: Guided and Safe Observation
With the filter installed, the Solar Mode of the Singularity app guides you through every step. This intelligent software guides you through the entire process, ensuring both you and your instrument are protected. The app's live view function lets you watch the Sun's surface in near real-time, making it easy to spot changes and find the perfect moment to take a picture.
Document Solar Activity: Track Sunspots Over Time
The Sun is a dynamic, constantly changing star, and the Vaonis Solar Filter for Vespera lets you document its evolution. You can capture high-resolution JPG images of sunspot groups directly from the app's observation tab. By taking photos at different times—hours, days, or weeks apart—you can create a compelling visual record of how these features emerge, change, and disappear across the solar disk.

Create Animations: While the Singularity app does not yet offer automatic video recording for solar observation, you can easily create your own. Simply retrieve the JPG files from Vespera's internal memory and assemble them with third-party animation software to produce a time-lapse of the Sun's rotation.

What can I see on the Sun with the Vaonis Solar Filter for Vespera?
This is a white-light solar filter designed for observing the Sun's surface, known as the photosphere. You will be able to clearly see sunspots, which appear as dark markings. It is not designed to show solar prominences, flares, which require specialized and much more expensive hydrogen-alpha filters.
Is the Vaonis Solar Filter safe for my Vespera's camera?
Yes. The filter is specifically designed for the Vespera and made from glass with a dimming effect and reduces the Sun's brightness to a level that is completely safe for the telescope's internal optics and sensor. The Singularity app's guided "Solar Mode" provides an additional layer of safety during operation.
How do I create a time-lapse of the Sun with my Vespera?
The Singularity app does not currently generate solar videos automatically. To create a time-lapse, you must capture a series of individual still photos (in JPG format) at regular intervals. You can then access the Vespera's internal memory, download the images, and use external photo or GIF animation software on your computer to assemble them into a video.
Can I use the Vaonis Solar Filter for Vespera to watch a solar eclipse?
Absolutely. This filter is the correct and necessary accessory for safely observing and imaging all partial phases of a solar eclipse with your Vespera.
Will this filter fit any other telescope besides the Vespera?
No. This solar filter is custom-designed to fit the specific dimensions and mounting system of the Vaonis Vespera smart telescope. It should not be used with any other instrument, as an improper fit could be unsafe.
