Antlia Extension Tube for Solar Discover CaK Assembly - 70mm
The Antlia 70mm Extension Tube gives more back focus, if needed, when the Antlia Solar Discover 5Å CaK assembly is used with a Barlow lens. This helps the solar imaging system reach focus during shooting.
The 70mm Solution for Barlow Lens Focus with the 5Å CaK Assembly
Adding a Barlow lens to the 5Å CaK assembly moves the point of focus further out. If the imaging train then needs more back focus to reach focus, the Antlia 70mm Extension Tube provides it.
Choosing Between the 70mm and 50mm Extension Tubes
Antlia offers both 70mm and 50mm extension tubes for the 5Å CaK assembly. The right one depends on how much extra back focus your setup needs to reach focus with the Barlow lens; the 70mm tube is the longer of the two.

What is the purpose of the Antlia 70mm Extension Tube?
The Antlia 70mm Extension Tube provides additional back focus, allowing you to reach a sharp image when using the Antlia Solar Discover 5Å CaK assembly in combination with a Barlow lens. A Barlow pushes the focal point outwards, and this tube extends the imaging train to meet it.
When would I need the Antlia 70mm tube for my Solar Discover CaK assembly?
You will need this 70mm extension tube if you add a Barlow lens to your CaK imaging setup and find you cannot achieve focus by moving your focuser all the way out. Antlia offers the tube to achieve more back focus if needed.
How do I know if I need the 70mm or the 50mm Antlia extension tube?
The choice depends on the specific optical path length of your Barlow lens and the travel range of your focuser. The 70mm tube is for setups requiring more back focus. If the 50mm tube does not give enough back focus to reach focus, choose the 70mm.
Is this Antlia 70mm extension tube compatible with other solar filters?
Antlia offers this extension tube as an accessory for the Antlia Solar Discover 5Å CaK assembly. It does not state the thread or compatibility with other solar filters or telescopes.
Does the Antlia 70mm Extension Tube affect image quality?
It is an extension tube used to add back focus. Antlia does not describe any optical elements in it, and makes no claim about its effect on image quality.
