What is the primary purpose of the Baader M68x1(F)/M68x1(F) Conversion Ring?

Its sole function is to convert a male M68x1 thread into a female M68x1 thread. This allows you to connect two accessories that both have male M68 threads, which would otherwise be incompatible.

How does this Baader M68 conversion ring work?

The ring has female M68x1 threads on both of its faces. You simply screw it onto one of your male-threaded components. The other side of the ring then provides the female thread needed to connect your second male-threaded component.

I have a Baader M68 focuser and an M68 rotator, both with male threads. Can I use this ring to connect them?

Yes, this is the exact scenario the Baader M68x1(F)/M68x1(F) Conversion Ring is designed for. It will act as the "female-to-female" coupler between your two male-threaded accessories, creating a solid connection.

Will this Baader M68 ring add significant length to my optical train?

While any adapter adds some optical path length, this conversion ring is designed to be as low-profile as possible. The exact spacing it adds is minimal, but it's a critical factor to consider for maintaining correct backfocus. Its primary role is connection, not extension.

Why would I need to convert an M68 male thread to female?

You need this conversion when your optical train requires connecting two components that are not designed to mate directly. For example, connecting a field flattener with a male thread to a filter wheel that also has a male thread. This ring bridges that gap.

Can I use this ring to connect my M68-threaded field flattener directly to my M68 filter wheel if both have male threads?

Absolutely. If both your flattener and filter wheel present male M68x1 threads, this conversion ring is the correct adapter to join them securely while maintaining the rigid M68 connection throughout your imaging train.
