What is the primary function of the Baader Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77?

The primary function of the Baader Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77 is to adapt the M62 female thread on a Baader Hyperion eyepiece component to an M77 male thread. This allows you to securely attach accessories, typically camera lenses, that have a matching M77 filter thread.

Which Baader adapter is the Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77 designed to work with?

This DT-Ring is specifically designed for use with the Baader HDT54/62 adapter as part of the Hyperion eyepiece afocal imaging system. It threads into the HDT54/62 to provide the final M77 connection for a camera lens.

If I want to connect my DSLR with an M77 lens thread to a Hyperion eyepiece, is this DT-Ring the right part?

Yes, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. You will need the Baader HDT54/62 adapter first. The Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77 then threads into that adapter to provide the correct M77 thread for your camera lens, completing the connection for your afocal setup.

Can I use the Baader DT-Ring M62/M77 to attach a standard M77 filter to my eyepiece?

No, this is not its intended purpose. The DT-Ring provides a male M77 thread designed to screw into the female filter thread on the front of a camera lens. It cannot be used to attach a standard M77 filter directly to the eyepiece for visual use.

How does the Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77 help with afocal photography of the Moon and planets?

For afocal photography, where you shoot through the eyepiece with a camera and its lens, a rigid connection is critical for sharpness. The Baader DT-Ring M62/M77 provides a solid, threaded connection that prevents the camera from sagging or shifting during an exposure, which is essential for capturing fine details on the Moon or planets like Jupiter and Saturn.

What are the thread sizes on the Baader Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77?

The Baader Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M77 features an M62 female thread on one side (to connect to the eyepiece system) and an M77 male thread on the other side (to connect to a camera lens or other accessory).
