How do I install the Baader Hyperion T-Adapter on my eyepiece?

Installation is simple. First, unscrew the soft rubber eyecup from the top of your Baader Hyperion eyepiece. This will expose the female M43 threads. You can then screw the M43 side of the T-Adapter directly onto the eyepiece for a secure fit.

What kind of photography is the Hyperion T-Adapter M43/T-2 used for?

This adapter is designed for eyepiece projection astrophotography. This technique uses the eyepiece to project a highly magnified image onto a camera sensor. It is ideal for capturing detailed images of bright subjects like the Moon, planets, and sunspots (with a safe, full-aperture solar filter on the telescope).

Can I use the Baader Hyperion T-Adapter to image Jupiter with my DSLR and an 8" SCT?

Yes, this is a perfect application for the adapter. An 8" f/10 SCT has a long focal length, and a Hyperion eyepiece will provide the high magnification needed to resolve Jupiter's cloud bands. This adapter will connect your DSLR (via its specific T-ring) directly to the eyepiece, creating a rigid imaging train.

Will this adapter work with my ZWO ASI camera to photograph the Moon's craters?

Yes. Most ZWO cameras use a 1.25" nosepiece with T-2 threads. You would thread the camera's nosepiece into the female T-2 threads of an accessory like a T-2 extension tube, which then connects to this adapter. This creates a secure, threaded connection ideal for capturing high-resolution lunar mosaics.

Does the Baader Hyperion T-Adapter add any magnification?

The adapter itself is purely a mechanical part and adds no optical power. However, in eyepiece projection, the final magnification on the sensor is determined by the distance between the eyepiece and the camera sensor. By adding T-2 extension tubes between this adapter and your camera, you can increase this distance and thus increase the final image scale.

Is the Hyperion T-Adapter compatible with the Baader Hyperion Zoom eyepiece?

No. This adapter is specifically for the fixed focal length Baader Hyperion eyepieces. The Hyperion Mark IV Zoom eyepiece has a different thread and requires its own dedicated T-adapter (Baader #2958080), which is sold separately.
