What is the primary purpose of the Baader Takahashi Sky90 Adapter?

Its sole purpose is to convert the specific M64x0.75 male thread on the Takahashi Sky90 focuser to the widely used Baader M68x1 female thread. This allows you to securely attach Baader's M68 series of photographic and visual accessories directly to the telescope.

Why is this threaded Baader adapter better than using a standard 2" adapter on my Sky90?

A standard 2" adapter relies on thumbscrews and a compression ring to hold heavy equipment, which can lead to tilt and flexure. This M64/M68 adapter creates a rigid, threaded metal-on-metal connection that cannot tilt or sag, which is critical for maintaining optical alignment during long-exposure astrophotography.

What specific accessories can I attach to my Takahashi Sky90 using this adapter?

This adapter opens up the entire Baader M68 ecosystem. This includes, but is not limited to: Baader M68 Tele-Compendium System, Baader M68 Extension Tubes for precise spacing, Adapters to connect to Baader's Fluorite Flatfield Converter (FFC) or Telecentric systems, and the Baader M68 Ultrashort eyepiece clamp for a secure visual back.

I want to use a Baader Telecentric System for H-alpha solar imaging with my Sky90. Is this the adapter I need?

Yes, this is the essential starting point. This adapter provides the foundational M68 thread on your Sky90 focuser. From there, you will use other Baader M68 components to connect your Telecentric System and H-alpha filter, creating a completely rigid and safe solar imaging train.

How does this adapter help prevent image shift when using a heavy camera on my Takahashi Sky90?

Image shift from focuser sag occurs when the weight of a camera causes the drawtube or accessory holder to tilt slightly. By threading your camera and accessories directly to the focuser via this M64 to M68 adapter, you create a single, solid unit. This prevents any possibility of sagging or shifting, ensuring your target remains perfectly centered on the sensor throughout the exposure.

Does this Baader adapter work with other telescopes or thread systems?

No. This adapter is purpose-built specifically for the Takahashi Sky90 telescope, which uses an M64x0.75 thread. It is designed to connect only to accessories that use the Baader M68x1 thread standard and is not compatible with other systems like M42, M48, or SCT threads without additional adapters.
