What is the main purpose of the Baader UFC 2" Filter Slider?

The main purpose of the Baader UFC 2" Filter Slider is to allow you to use standard, cell-mounted 2-inch filters (with M48 threads) within the Baader Universal Filter Changer (UFC) system. It enables quick, tool-free swapping of filters in your imaging train.

Can I use my existing 2" narrowband filters with this UFC Filter Slider?

Yes. This slider is specifically designed for any standard 2" filter mounted in a cell with M48 threads. This includes virtually all 2" LRGB, narrowband (H-alpha, OIII, SII), and light pollution filters from major manufacturers.

How does the Baader UFC Filter Slider install into the UFC Base?

The slider is designed to slide smoothly into the main UFC Base (sold separately) and is held in place securely. This allows you to prepare multiple sliders with different filters and swap them out in the field in just a few seconds without changing focus or camera orientation.

Is the Baader UFC Filter Slider a replacement for an automated filter wheel?

No, this is a manual solution. The Baader UFC Filter Slider is designed for deliberate, hands-on filter changes. It is not automated and can only hold one filter at a time. It is an excellent choice for simplicity, light weight, and avoiding the backfocus consumption of a larger electronic filter wheel.

When imaging the Orion Nebula (M42) with my SCT, can I quickly swap between an H-alpha and a multi-bandpass filter with this UFC slider?

Absolutely. This is a perfect use case. You would have one filter slider for your H-alpha filter and a second one for your multi-bandpass filter. You could capture data with one, then simply slide it out and slide the other one in to capture data on the same target without reframing or refocusing.

I have a refractor with a 2" focuser. Is this Baader UFC 2" slider all I need to use my filters?

No. This slider is a component of the larger Baader UFC system. You will also need the UFC Base, as well as telescope-side and camera-side adapters to connect the UFC Base to your specific refractor and camera. This slider fits into that complete system.
