What is the Baader UFC S70/M48(F) Adapter used for?

This adapter connects accessories with a male M48 thread (like a field flattener or coma corrector) to the telescope side of the Baader Universal Filter Changer (UFC) base. It acts as the bridge between your telescope's optical corrector and the filter system.

Which side of the Baader UFC S70/M48 Adapter faces the telescope?

The side with the internal female M48 thread faces the telescope. It is designed to screw onto the male M48 thread of your flattener, reducer, or other accessory coming from the focuser.

What does this Baader UFC adapter connect to on the filter changer side?

The adapter connects to the Baader UFC Base (the main filter chamber component) using its integrated S70 dovetail. This provides a secure, non-threaded connection that prevents flexure.

How do I attach my coma corrector with M48 threads to the Baader UFC system using this adapter?

You would thread the male M48 output of your coma corrector directly into the female M48 threads of this adapter. Then, you can slide the S70 dovetail side of the adapter into the UFC Base and lock it in place, positioning your filter wheel correctly behind the corrector.

Can I use the Baader UFC S70/M48 adapter to attach a ZWO camera with M48 threads?

No, this is a telescope-side adapter. It has a female M48 thread to accept a corrector. To attach a camera with a female M48 thread, you would need a corresponding camera-side UFC adapter with a male M48 thread, not this telescope-side component.

Why choose the S70 dovetail system on this Baader UFC adapter over a fully threaded connection?

The S70 dovetail system offers a more rigid and stable connection than simple threads. It prevents the UFC body from rotating or sagging under the weight of a camera, which is crucial for maintaining optical alignment and achieving sharp, consistent focus across the entire imaging field.
