What is the main advantage of the LS300THa's 300mm aperture for solar viewing?

The primary advantage of the 300 mm aperture is resolution. It allows you to resolve extremely fine solar features, such as the granulation cells covering the photosphere and the intricate, thread-like structures within solar prominences, that are simply too small to be seen in smaller-aperture solar telescopes.

How does the view differ between the LS300THa single stack (<0.65Å) and double stack (<0.45Å) when observing a solar filament?

While a solar filament is visible in the <0.65Å single-stack version, it appears as a dark line against the brighter chromosphere. In the <0.45Å double-stack version, the contrast is significantly increased. The filament will appear much darker and more defined, and you will see more of its complex, multi-stranded structure against a darker background, making it "pop" off the solar disk.

What does "True Doppler Pressure Tuning" allow you to do with the LS300THa?

This system allows you to precisely shift the center of the filter's bandpass. Since solar features can be moving towards or away from us, their light is Doppler-shifted. The PC-USB controlled pressure tuning lets you fine-tune the filter to see these high-velocity events, like the legs of a solar flare or plasma moving along magnetic field lines, which would be invisible if the filter were fixed at the exact H-alpha line.

Why is the 3.5 inch Feathertouch focuser necessary on the LS300THa?

A telescope of this size and focal length produces a very large image and is intended for use with large-format, often heavy, imaging equipment. The 3.5 inch Feathertouch focuser provides the mechanical stability to carry this load without sagging or shifting, and its fine-focus control is essential for achieving critical sharpness when imaging at high resolution.

What does an "internal, unobstructed" etalon mean for the LS300THa?

An internal etalon is placed inside the main telescope tube, fully protected from the elements. Because it's a full-aperture filter placed after the main objective, it is unobstructed, meaning there is no central obstruction in the light path (unlike a front-mounted etalon on an SCT). This design maximizes contrast and optical throughput for the purest possible solar image.

What kind of mount is required for the Lunt LS300THa?

While the exact weight is not specified, a 300 mm telescope is a very large and heavy instrument. The LS300THa requires a research-grade, high-capacity equatorial mount. You should consider mounts typically used for large observatory instruments, capable of handling well over 100 lbs of payload to ensure stability for high-resolution imaging.
