Will this Hand Controller work with my Pegasus Astro FocusCube v3?

No, this hand controller is specifically designed for and compatible with the FocusCube v2 ONLY. It will not function with the newer FocusCube v3 or other models.

How does the FocusCube v2 Hand Controller help when imaging Jupiter with an 8" SCT?

When imaging planets like Jupiter at long focal lengths (e.g., f/10 or f/20 with a Barlow), the critical focus zone is extremely small. The 1:10 fine focus mode on the Hand Controller allows you to make tiny, controlled adjustments to the focuser motor without touching the telescope, preventing image shake and making it much easier to nail perfect focus between moments of steady seeing.

Can I use the Hand Controller for the FocusCube v2 without a PC connected?

Yes. As long as the FocusCube v2 is powered, the hand controller can be used as a standalone manual focuser. This is ideal for visual observing sessions where you don't want to bring a laptop out to the field but still want the benefit of electronic, vibration-free focusing.

How do I activate the fine focus mode on the FocusCube v2 Hand Controller?

Simply press the rotary knob inwards like a button. The indicator LED will switch from green to orange, confirming that you are now in the 1:10 fine focus mode. Pressing it again will return you to the standard coarse speed.

Does the Hand Controller for the FocusCube v2 require its own power source?

No, the hand controller is powered directly by the FocusCube v2 through the included RJ45 cable. It requires no separate batteries or power supply.

Can I leave the Hand Controller plugged into my FocusCube v2 permanently?

Yes. The controller is designed to work in parallel with PC software control. You can leave it plugged in and use whichever control method is most convenient at the moment—manual adjustments with the controller or automated focusing routines from your PC.
