What is the benefit of the QHY268C's native 16-bit ADC?

A native 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter samples the image data at 65,535 levels. This is significantly more than 12-bit (4,096 levels) or 14-bit (16,384 levels) cameras. The result is smoother tonal transitions and finer detail in areas of high dynamic range, such as the core of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) or the faint outer wisps of the Veil Nebula.

When should I use the QHY268C's Extended Full Well Mode vs. High Gain Mode?

Use Extended Full Well Mode (80ke-) when imaging bright targets with a high dynamic range, like the Orion Nebula (M42), to avoid saturating bright stars and retain color information. Use High Gain Mode (1.1e- read noise) for very faint targets like dark nebulae or distant galaxy clusters, where minimizing read noise is more important than maximizing full well capacity.

Does the QHY268C have amplifier glow?

No. The QHY268C features circuitry specifically designed for Zero Amplifier Glow. This means you will not see the typical brightening along the edges of the sensor on long exposures, resulting in cleaner raw data that is easier to calibrate and process.

How will the QHY268C's 3.76µm pixels perform with a short 400mm refractor?

With a 400mm focal length telescope, the QHY268C's 3.76µm pixels will yield an image scale of approximately 1.94 arcseconds per pixel. This is an excellent match for wide-field imaging of large targets like the North America Nebula (NGC 7000) or the Heart and Soul Nebulae, capturing expansive vistas with high resolution under typical seeing conditions.

Is the QHY268C a good choice for an 11" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain?

Yes. On a typical 11" SCT at its native 2800mm focal length, the QHY268C provides an image scale of 0.28 arcseconds per pixel, which is ideal for high-resolution imaging of smaller galaxies and planetary nebulae. The camera's low read noise and efficient cooling are critical for pulling out faint details in these targets, which often require long exposures at high magnification.

Does the QHY268C color camera include a humidity sensor?

No. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the integrated humidity sensor is available only in the monochrome QHY268M model. The QHY268C relies on its heated optical window to prevent dew and frost formation.
