Which telescopes use the 3.3" thread this Baader adapter connects to?

This adapter is designed for larger Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes that feature a 3.3-inch rear cell thread. This typically includes Celestron 11" and 14" models (both standard and EdgeHD) and larger Meade SCT and ACF models (10" and above). Always measure your telescope's rear thread to confirm before purchasing.

What is the benefit of adapting my Celestron C14 to the M68 system with this Baader adapter?

The M68 system offers a significantly more rigid and wider-aperture connection than standard 2" accessories. For an instrument like a C14, this helps to eliminate flexure in the imaging train, especially with heavy cameras and filter wheels. The large clear aperture also minimizes vignetting on full-frame or larger sensors.

How does the 11.5mm optical height of this Baader adapter affect my imaging train?

The 11.5mm optical height is the amount of back focus the adapter consumes. This extremely short path length is a major advantage, as it leaves you more room for other accessories. When using a focal reducer, maintaining precise back focus distance is critical, and this adapter's minimal profile makes it much easier to stay within the required tolerance.

What kind of accessories can I attach with the M68 thread this Baader adapter provides?

The M68x1 male thread opens up your telescope to a wide range of professional-grade accessories, including Baader Steeltrack and Diamond Steeltrack focusers, large off-axis guiders, and adapters for other thread systems.

Is this Baader adapter a single piece?

Yes, this is a single, precisely machined adapter. It directly converts the female 3.3" SCT thread to a male M68x1 thread, ensuring a solid, flex-free connection between your telescope and your M68 accessories.

Will this Baader adapter work on a smaller SCT like a Celestron C8?

No. Smaller SCTs like the Celestron C8 and Meade 8" models use a smaller 2" SCT rear cell thread. This adapter is specifically for the larger 3.3" thread found on bigger models.
