What is the primary function of the Baader M68 to AP 2.7" adapter?

Its function is to connect two different, high-end astronomical thread standards. It allows you to attach a component with a female M68x1 thread (common on Baader Planetarium products) to a focuser or accessory that has a male Astro-Physics 2.7" thread.

Can I use this Baader adapter to connect my Baader MPCC III coma corrector to an Astro-Physics focuser?

Yes, this is a perfect use case. If your Astro-Physics focuser terminates in a 2.7" male thread and your Baader MPCC has a female M68 thread, this adapter will create a solid, secure connection between them, ideal for imaging with a Newtonian telescope.

Does this Baader M68/AP 2.7" adapter introduce any flexure into the imaging train?

This adapter is designed specifically to prevent flexure. By using wide-diameter, direct-threaded connections, it creates a much more rigid link than using smaller step-down rings or compression fittings, which are common sources of tilt and flex in an imaging setup.

What are the thread specifications for this Baader adapter?

The adapter has two sides: Female (Internal) Thread: M68 with a 1mm thread pitch (M68x1). Male (External) Thread: Astro-Physics 2.7" standard thread.

Will this adapter work with other brands that use M68 or 2.7" threads?

Yes, provided the threads match exactly. The M68x1 standard is used by several European brands, and the AP 2.7" thread is also used by some other high-end manufacturers. However, it is essential to verify the thread specifications on your equipment, as there are multiple "2.7-inch" thread types on the market.

How would I use this Baader adapter with my Astro-Physics refractor's imaging train?

A common scenario is connecting a Baader M68-based accessory, like a filter drawer or off-axis guider, to an Astro-Physics field flattener. You would thread this adapter onto the male 2.7" thread of the flattener, which then provides a female M68 port to begin building out the rest of your Baader-based imaging train toward the camera.
