What is the primary use for the Baader C to T-2 Mount w/ Integrated Filter Holder?

Its primary use is to connect a C-mount camera (common for planetary, guiding, or industrial video) to the standard T-2 (M42x0.75) thread used on most astronomical accessories, while simultaneously providing a slot for a single filter. It's a problem-solver for imaging trains where backfocus is too limited for a full filter wheel or drawer.

Can I use this Baader adapter to add a methane filter for imaging Jupiter with a C-mount camera?

Yes, this is an ideal application. It allows you to place a specialized filter, such as a methane band filter, into the light path of a high-frame-rate C-mount camera without adding the bulk and backfocus consumption of a larger filter holder. This helps maintain the shortest, most rigid imaging train possible for high-resolution planetary work.

What does it mean that this Baader mount accepts 'unmounted' filters?

This means the adapter can securely hold a piece of raw filter glass that is not housed in a standard threaded cell. This is advantageous for advanced users who might have custom-sized filters or who need to minimize every fraction of a millimeter in their optical path by removing the filter from its housing.

Does the Baader C to T-2 Mount come with any filters included?

No, the adapter does not come with any filters. You must provide your own mounted or unmounted filter to place inside the integrated holder.

I have a guide camera with a C-mount. Can I use this adapter to add an IR-pass filter?

Absolutely. Using an IR-pass filter for guiding can help stabilize star shapes by focusing on longer, more stable wavelengths of light, especially in conditions of poor seeing. This adapter is a perfect way to add a dedicated IR-pass filter to your C-mount guide camera without complicating your setup.

How does this Baader adapter compare to using a separate C-to-T2 adapter and a filter drawer?

The primary advantage of this integrated Baader adapter is its minimal consumption of backfocus. A separate C-to-T2 adapter plus a filter drawer or filter wheel will almost always be thicker and require more spacing. This integrated unit is the superior choice when your available backfocus is severely limited.
