What is the primary function of the Baader Hyperion DT-Ring M62/M67?

The primary function of this Baader DT-Ring is to adapt an M62 female thread to an M67 male thread. This is specifically used in afocal photography setups to connect a camera lens or other M67-threaded accessory to a Baader Hyperion eyepiece via the HDT54/62 adapter.

Do I need another adapter to use the M62/M67 DT-Ring with my Hyperion eyepiece?

Yes. This ring is designed to be used with the Baader Hyperion Digital T-Adapter (HDT54/62). The HDT54/62 first connects to the eyepiece's native M54 thread and provides the M62 thread that this DT-Ring then attaches to.

How can I use the Baader M62/M67 DT-Ring for afocal imaging of the Moon?

For imaging the Moon, you would assemble the system as follows: Attach the HDT54/62 adapter to your Hyperion eyepiece. Thread the M62/M67 DT-Ring onto the HDT54/62 adapter. Reverse-mount a camera lens (using its M67 filter threads) onto the DT-Ring. Attach your camera body to the other side of the camera lens. This setup uses the camera lens to project the image from the eyepiece onto your camera sensor.

What kind of camera accessory can I attach with the M67 thread on this DT-Ring?

The M67 male thread is a standard size for the filter threads on many photographic lenses, particularly prime and zoom lenses. You can attach any camera lens, filter, or other accessory that has a corresponding M67x0.75 female thread.

Is this Baader DT-Ring compatible with eyepieces outside the Hyperion series?

While designed for the Baader Hyperion system, this ring can technically be used in any application where you need to adapt an M62 female thread to an M67 male thread. However, its primary design and utility are matched to the back-focus and threading of the Baader afocal imaging accessories.

Why would I reverse-mount a camera lens onto my telescope using the Baader M62/M67 ring?

Reverse-mounting a high-quality camera lens allows it to act as an excellent projection system for afocal imaging. Camera lenses are highly corrected for flat fields and color, and using one in this configuration can produce sharper and more evenly illuminated images on your camera sensor than some dedicated projection adapters, especially when imaging bright targets like Jupiter or Saturn.
