What is the primary purpose of the Baader Hyperion M54/T-2 T-Adapter?

Its sole function is to adapt the female M54 thread on the older Baader Hyperion Mark III Clickstop Zoom eyepiece to the male T-2 thread standard used by camera-specific T-rings. This allows you to securely attach a DSLR or mirrorless camera for afocal astrophotography.

Will this Baader adapter work with the newer Hyperion Mark IV Zoom eyepiece?

No. This adapter is specifically designed for the threads on the older Mark III version of the Hyperion Clickstop Zoom. The Mark IV and other eyepieces may use different threading and are not compatible.

What else do I need to connect my Sony mirrorless camera to the Hyperion M54/T-2 T-Adapter?

To complete the connection to your camera, you will need two parts: this M54/T-2 adapter which threads onto the eyepiece, and a separate T-ring for your specific Sony E-mount camera body. The T-ring threads onto this adapter, and the other side of the T-ring mounts to your camera like a lens.

How does this M54/T-2 adapter improve my afocal imaging with the Hyperion MkIII Zoom?

It provides a rigid, all-threaded connection from the eyepiece to the camera. This prevents the camera from tilting or sagging during a long exposure, which is a common problem with simple clamp-based adapters. The result is a more stable imaging train and potentially sharper stars across the field.

Can I use this Baader adapter for visual observing with a 1.25" eyepiece?

No, this is not a visual accessory. The Baader Hyperion M54/T-2 T-Adapter terminates in a male T-2 thread designed for a camera T-ring. It does not have a barrel or holder to accept another eyepiece.

Is the Baader Hyperion M54/T-2 T-Adapter compatible with non-Baader eyepieces?

It is highly unlikely. The adapter is precisely machined for the specific M54 threads on the Baader Hyperion Mark III Zoom. Other eyepieces from other manufacturers will almost certainly use different, incompatible thread sizes or have no threads at all.
