Baader Planetarium Dovetail Bar 3", 190mm (7.5") – for Baader & TEC (flat)

The "Losmandy-style" or "D-style" designation refers to the dovetail's dimensions, specifically its 3-inch width and the 60-degree angle of its sides. This is a heavy-duty standard designed to securely mount larger telescopes and heavy imaging payloads without flexure or instability.

A 190mm bar is an excellent length for many smaller refractors. To confirm a fit, you must measure the center-to-center distance of the mounting holes on your specific tube rings and check if they align with the slots machined into the dovetail bar. This bar's flat profile is designed for rings with a corresponding flat base.

A flat profile means the top surface of the bar where the telescope attaches is completely flat, with no curvature. It's designed for direct mounting to flat-bottomed telescope components or to tube rings that have a flat base, providing a large, stable contact area for a secure fit.

This bar is manufactured by Baader Planetarium and is designed to integrate perfectly with their own 3" clamps, ensuring a precise fit and finish. Telescope Engineering Company (TEC) refractors often utilize mounting rings with a flat base, making this specific flat-profile bar a direct-fit, OEM-quality solution for those instruments.

While the 7.5" length is suitable for a guidescope, this bar's flat profile is not ideal for the curved optical tube of an SCT. To attach it securely, you would need to use curved radius blocks between this flat bar and the SCT's tube to create a stable, non-rocking connection.

This bar is compatible with any saddle clamp designed for the 3" Losmandy "D-style" standard. For a guaranteed mechanical lock and matching finish, it is best paired with Baader's own 3" dovetail clamps (such as the Baader Pan/EQ Clamp V190).
