What is the purpose of the Baader T-2 Quick Change Ring?

The Baader T-2 Quick Change Ring is designed to be permanently threaded onto an accessory with male T-2 threads (like a camera or filter wheel). It then allows that accessory to be instantly attached to or detached from a Baader T-2 Quick Changer (#T2-6), eliminating the need to thread and unthread components in the dark.

What other part do I need to use the Baader T-2 Quick Change Ring?

This ring is one half of a system and is not functional on its own. You must have at least one Baader T-2 Quick Changer (Zeiss) with T-2 thread (Part # T2-6). The Ring fits into the Changer, which provides the locking mechanism and the connection to the rest of your telescope system.

Will the Baader T-2 Quick Change system add flexure to my imaging train?

No. When properly locked, the dovetail connection is extremely rigid and is designed for imaging applications. It provides a more secure and repeatable connection than standard set-screws or compression rings, ensuring no tilt or flex is introduced into the optical path, even with moderately heavy cameras.

How does the Baader T-2 Quick Change Ring connect to my camera and focuser?

First, you thread the Quick Change Ring onto the male T-threads of your camera, filter drawer, or other accessory. Then, you thread the corresponding Quick Changer onto your focuser or optical train. This allows you to drop the camera (with its attached Ring) into the Changer and lock it down with a simple twist.

Is the T-2 thread on the Baader Quick Change Ring compatible with standard M42x0.75 accessories?

Yes. The Baader T-2 thread is dimensionally identical to the common M42x0.75 "T-thread" used on the vast majority of astronomical cameras, filter wheels, and adapters. It will connect to any standard T-threaded accessory from any manufacturer.

Can I use the Baader T-2 Quick Change Ring for visual observing setups?

Absolutely. It's an excellent way to quickly swap between a camera and a T-2 eyepiece holder. By equipping both your camera and your visual back with a Quick Change Ring, you can switch from imaging to visual observation in seconds without unthreading anything.
