What is the main benefit of adding the 8-inch iOptron MiniPier to my GEM28 mount?

The primary benefit is the 8 inches of added height. This makes for a much more comfortable viewing session, especially for taller individuals or when using a long optical tube like a refractor. It also helps prevent the telescope from colliding with the tripod legs when pointed near the zenith.

How does the iOptron MiniPier help with polar aligning my CEM26 from a backyard with a fence?

The 8-inch extension raises the entire mount assembly, including the polar scope. This elevated position often provides a clear line of sight to Polaris over the top of a fence, wall, or other common backyard obstruction, which is essential for an accurate polar alignment.

I'm a tall observer. Will the 8-inch MiniPier make using my HEM27 more comfortable?

Absolutely. The added 8 inches of height brings the eyepiece to a more natural position for taller observers, significantly reducing back and neck strain during long visual sessions. You'll spend less time crouching and more time enjoying the view.

Is the iOptron MiniPier compatible with the standard iOptron carbon fiber tripod?

Yes, the MiniPier is designed to sit between the tripod and the mount head. It bolts directly onto the top of the tripod, and the mount (such as a CEM26 or GEM28) then bolts onto the top of the MiniPier, creating a stable, extended setup.

What mounts is the 8-inch iOptron MiniPier designed for?

This MiniPier is specifically designed for the following iOptron mounts: CEM26, HEM27, GEM28, and HAE29.

I'm having trouble separating the components of my MiniPier to achieve the full 8-inch height. Any advice?

The bolts connecting the pier sections can be very tight from the factory. We recommend using a high-quality, correctly sized Allen wrench to ensure a snug fit and prevent stripping the bolt head. Applying steady, even force is key. If a bolt will not budge, using a wrench with a longer handle for more leverage may be helpful.
