What is the Pegasus 2.1x5.5mm to GX12 adapter cable for?

This cable is designed to connect a power supply that has a standard 2.1mm x 5.5mm male barrel plug to a device that requires a GX12-2 input, specifically the Pegasus Astro NYX-101 and NYX-88 mounts. It allows you to use common 12V power sources with these high-end mounts.

Can I use this GX12 adapter with mounts other than the NYX-101 or NYX-88?

While the GX12-2 connector is a standard part, this cable is only verified for use with the Pegasus Astro NYX-101 and NYX-88 mounts. Using it with other devices is not recommended, as pinout configurations and power requirements can vary, potentially causing damage to your equipment.

Why does the Pegasus NYX mount use a GX12 connector?

The GX12 is a locking, industrial-style connector that provides a much more secure physical connection than a standard DC barrel plug. This prevents accidental power loss from cable snags or movement, which is critical for maintaining tracking and GoTo accuracy during an astrophotography session.

Is the 0.3m length of this adapter cable long enough?

The 0.3m (1ft) length is intentionally short. It is designed to act as a "pigtail" adapter that connects your main power cable to the mount. This minimizes cable slack right at the mount head, reducing the risk of snags as the mount rotates.

Will this cable work with my Pegasus Pocket Powerbox?

Yes. Pegasus Astro power distribution hubs like the Pocket Powerbox, Ultimate Powerbox, and Saddle Powerbox all use standard 2.1mm x 5.5mm 12V outputs. This adapter is the perfect interface between those outputs and the GX12 input on a NYX-101 or NYX-88 mount.

What is the maximum current this adapter cable can handle?

The adapter cable is rated for a maximum current of 10A. This is more than sufficient to power the NYX series mounts and their connected accessories under full load.
