    Zero-Backlash Focusing with 0.8 Kg/cm of Torque

    At the heart of this kit is a powerful bipolar stepper motor engineered for the demands of automated focusing. The zero-backlash design eliminates mechanical play, ensuring that every command from your controller results in exact, repeatable focuser movement, a critical requirement for sharp stars. With a holding torque of 0.8 Kg/cm, the motor has ample strength to move the primary mirror of a Celestron 11" SCT without slipping, even when the telescope is pointed near the zenith.

    SCT Margarita Bracket for Collision-Free Imaging

    The included black anodized aluminum "Margarita" style bracket is specifically designed for Celestron SCTs, providing a rigid, flex-free mounting platform. The pulley-and-belt drive system is a key design feature that positions the motor away from the rear cell of the telescope. This creates essential clearance for filter wheels and other accessories, preventing collisions that can occur with direct-drive focus motors, especially when using a focal reducer.

    System Integration: Required Pegasus Astro Motor Controllers

    This kit contains the mechanical motor and bracket assembly required for automating your SCT's focuser. To operate it, you must connect it to a compatible Pegasus Astro motor controller (sold separately). The included 1-meter RJ45 cable allows for direct connection to devices like the Dual Motor Focus Controller, eXternal Motor Controller, or the Ultimate Powerbox v2. Please note that the Ultimate Powerbox v1 is not compatible.

  • Does this SCT Motor Focus Kit work with my Celestron EdgeHD 11"?

    Yes, this kit is fully compatible with both the classic Celestron 11" SCT and the EdgeHD 11" models. The package includes the 22mm bore size GT2 pulley, which is the correct size for the focusing knobs on the 11" and 14" Celestron telescopes.

    What controller do I need to use this SCT Motor Focus Kit?

    This is a motor and bracket kit only and requires a separate controller for operation. You will need a compatible Pegasus Astro controller, such as the Dual Motor Focus Controller, eXternal Motor Controller, or an Ultimate Powerbox v2. The original Ultimate Powerbox v1 is not compatible.

    Will this motor kit collide with my filter wheel when using an f/7 reducer on my C11?

    The belt-drive system was specifically designed to prevent this issue. By offsetting the motor from the focuser knob, it creates significant clearance at the rear of the telescope. This allows you to use a focal reducer and a filter wheel or off-axis guider without the motor housing causing a physical collision.

    What is the benefit of the "zero backlash" motor in this SCT kit?

    Zero backlash means there is no "slop" or "play" in the motor's gear train. When your autofocus software tells the motor to move a specific number of steps, it moves exactly that amount, both inwards and outwards. This results in highly accurate and repeatable focusing, which is essential for achieving the sharpest possible images.

    Can I use this SCT bracket kit on a Meade telescope?

    While the bracket was designed for Celestron SCTs, it has been found to fit on some Meade SCT models that use a similar round focus knob. However, compatibility is not guaranteed. It is best to compare your Meade's focuser assembly to the product photos or contact us to confirm fitment before purchasing.
