What is the purpose of this 5-piece Motor Coupler Set?

This set is designed to physically connect the shaft of a stepper motor (like those used in electronic focusers) to the existing focuser knob shaft on a telescope. Because these shafts come in different diameters, the set includes 5 couplers covering sizes from 4mm to 8mm to ensure a compatible fit.

How do I know which of the 5 couplers to use for my telescope?

You will need to measure the diameter of your telescope's focuser shaft (after removing the manual knob) and the diameter of your stepper motor's shaft. Select the coupler from the set that matches both of these diameters for a secure connection.

Will this Motor Coupler Set work with a Celestron 8" SCT focuser?

Compatibility depends entirely on the shaft diameter of your specific Celestron 8" SCT's focuser. You must measure the shaft to confirm it falls within the 4mm to 8mm range covered by this set. Different generations or models of focusers may have different shaft sizes.

Can I use this Motor Coupler Set to motorize the focuser on my Sky-Watcher Esprit 100ED?

Yes, provided the focuser shaft on your Esprit 100ED and the shaft on your chosen motor are within the 4mm to 8mm diameter range. This set is universal and not brand-specific, so the physical measurement is the only way to confirm the fit.

Are set screws included with the Motor Coupler Set?

The provided information does not specify if set screws are included. It is best to assume you may need to source the appropriate set screws separately to secure the coupler to the motor and focuser shafts.

What tools are needed to install a coupler from the Motor Coupler Set?

Typically, you will need a set of small hex keys (Allen wrenches) to tighten the set screws that lock the coupler onto the shafts. You will also need the necessary tools to remove your telescope's existing manual focus knob.
