What is the purpose of the PrimaLuceLab Cable Locking Clip (CLC) for ALTO?

The Cable Locking Clip (CLC) for ALTO is designed to physically lock the USB and power cables that connect a GIOTTO flat field generator to an ALTO cover motor. This prevents the cables from accidentally disconnecting, which is critical for reliable, unattended remote operation.

Is the Cable Locking Clip for ALTO included when I buy a new ALTO motor?

Yes. This clip is provided within the original ALTO package. The product sold here is an official spare part in case your original clip is lost or damaged.

Why would I need to buy a spare Cable Locking Clip for my ALTO?

The most common reason is to replace a lost original. Given its small size, it can be easily misplaced during setup or teardown of your equipment, especially when working in the dark. Having a spare ensures your system remains fully functional.

Will this Cable Locking Clip work with any ALTO and GIOTTO combination?

Yes, this is the standard clip designed for the ALTO motor body. It works with all models of the ALTO and their corresponding compatible GIOTTO flat field generators.

How does the Cable Locking Clip for ALTO help with remote imaging of DSOs like the Orion Nebula (M42)?

When you're running an automated session to capture deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula (M42), you rely on every component working flawlessly. At the end of your session, your software will command the ALTO and GIOTTO to take flat frames. The Cable Locking Clip ensures this critical final step isn't ruined by a cable that got snagged as your telescope tracked across the sky.

If I'm using an EAGLE to control my PrimaLuceLab ALTO, is this clip still necessary?

Absolutely. The EAGLE manages the software and power distribution, but the physical connection between the ALTO and GIOTTO remains. The clip provides mechanical security for that connection, which is independent of the control computer you use. It's essential for maintaining a robust physical setup.
