  • RB Focus Finder Shoe Bracket for Gaius

The RB Focus Finder Shoe Bracket is a simple bracket that fits the finder base (finder shoe) of your telescope, so the RB Focus Gaius can sit on the telescope.

A Simple Finder-Shoe Mount for the RB Focus Gaius

Using the finder shoe already on your telescope keeps the Gaius and its cables on the telescope as it moves, which helps keep cables tidy.

  • What is the purpose of the RB Focus Finder Shoe Bracket for Gaius?

This bracket allows you to mount your RB Focus Gaius mini-PC onto your telescope using the standard finder scope base (finder shoe). This keeps your computer securely attached to the telescope as it moves.

How do I install the RB Focus Finder Shoe Bracket on my telescope?

Fit the bracket in your telescope's finder base, as you would a finder, and mount the Gaius on it. RB Focus gives no further installation details.

Is the RB Focus Finder Shoe Bracket compatible with the Gaius-S2?

RB Focus lists this bracket for the Gaius and does not say it fits the Gaius-S2. For the Gaius-S2, RB Focus sells a separate dovetail bracket (Vixen or Losmandy).

What is the benefit of mounting the Gaius to my telescope with this bracket?

Mounting the Gaius directly to the optical tube helps with cable management and prevents cables from dragging or snagging as your telescope tracks or slews. It keeps the entire control system moving as a single unit with the optics.
