Which Paramount mounts is this counterweight knob compatible with?

This is the official replacement counterweight knob for a wide range of Software Bisque mounts, including the Paramount ME, Paramount ME II, Paramount MX, Paramount MX+, and Paramount MYT models. It is designed to match the original factory part's specifications perfectly.

Why would I need to replace the original Paramount counterweight knob?

Replacement is typically needed if the original knob is lost during transport, or if the threads become damaged from cross-threading or wear over many years of use. A secure knob is essential for the safety and balance of your imaging system, so replacing a compromised part is critical.

Is this an official Software Bisque part?

Yes. This is a genuine, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part sourced directly from Software Bisque. This ensures 100% compatibility and the same material quality as the knob that originally came with your Paramount mount.

What is the benefit of the large size of this Paramount knob?

The large, 4.5 × 12 × 4 inch dimensions and ergonomic shape provide significant mechanical advantage. This allows you to apply ample torque by hand to securely lock the counterweights without needing tools, and also makes it easy to loosen them at the end of a session, even when they are cold-tightened.

I have a Paramount MYT with a heavy imaging train for capturing the Orion Nebula (M42). Will this knob securely hold multiple counterweights?

Absolutely. This knob is designed to handle the full payload capacity of the Paramount MYT and other compatible mounts. When tightened correctly, it provides the necessary clamping force to hold multiple counterweights securely in place for long imaging sessions on targets like the Orion Nebula (M42), ensuring your balance remains perfect throughout the night.

If I'm setting up my Paramount MX+ in cold weather, is this knob easy to use with gloves on?

Yes, the knob's design is ideal for cold-weather use. The large, fluted grip is easy to manipulate even with thick gloves, which is a significant advantage over smaller, less ergonomic locking screws. You can confidently adjust your counterweights on a Paramount MX+ without exposing your hands to the cold.
