What is the purpose of the Software Bisque Pyramid Portable Pier Clamp Knob?

This clamp knob is the primary component used to attach a Software Bisque Paramount mount to the Pyramid Portable Pier. It threads into the pier and tightens against the mount base, providing the clamping force needed to create a single, rigid unit for astronomical use.

Is this an official Software Bisque replacement part for the Pyramid Pier?

Yes, this is a genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part sourced directly from Software Bisque. It guarantees complete compatibility and mechanical integrity with your existing Pyramid Portable Pier.

Why is the Pyramid Portable Pier Clamp Knob so heavy at 3 lbs?

The 3 lb weight is a result of its solid, robust construction. This mass is necessary to provide the strength and durability required to securely hold a heavy Paramount mount and telescope payload without flexing or failing, which is critical for long-exposure astrophotography.

Will this clamp knob fit other piers besides the Software Bisque Pyramid Portable Pier?

No, this knob is specifically designed and threaded for the Software Bisque Pyramid Portable Pier. It is not intended to be a universal part and is unlikely to be compatible with piers from other manufacturers.

If I lose my original clamp knob for the Pyramid Pier while setting up my Paramount ME II, is this the correct replacement?

Yes. If you are using a Paramount ME II mount with the Pyramid Portable Pier, this is the exact factory-specified clamp knob you need to securely attach your mount.

How critical is the Pyramid Portable Pier Clamp Knob for achieving stable polar alignment with my Paramount MYT?

It is absolutely critical. A loose or improper connection between your Paramount MYT and the pier is the most common source of instability. This official knob allows you to apply the correct torque for a rigid connection, which is the foundation for maintaining an accurate polar alignment throughout an imaging session.
