How do I know if this Feather Touch Micro Focuser fits my Celestron 11" telescope?

You must check the rear cell of your telescope. This specific model, the "CPC" version, is for Celestron 11" SCTs (like the CPC11, C11 Edge HD, and RASA 11) that have a triangular pattern on the back. If your telescope's back is flat, you need a different model (the standard "C" version).

What is "image shift" and how does the Feather Touch Micro Focuser fix it on my C11 Edge HD?

Image shift is the apparent movement of the object in the eyepiece when you change focusing direction. It's caused by slight tilting of the primary mirror as it moves along its baffle tube. The Feather Touch Micro Focuser's 10:1 fine-focus mechanism makes incredibly small, precise adjustments, moving the mirror so gently that the "slop" causing the tilt is not engaged. This keeps the image stable, which is critical for planetary imaging.

Is installing the Feather Touch Micro Focuser on my CPC11 difficult?

No, installation is straightforward and typically takes only a few minutes. You simply remove the stock rubber focus knob and use the included hex wrench to attach the Feather Touch unit. Starlight Instruments provides detailed instructions to guide you through the process.

Will this focuser improve my planetary imaging of Jupiter with a RASA 11?

Absolutely. Achieving perfect focus is the most critical variable in planetary imaging. The 10:1 fine control of the Feather Touch allows you to precisely snap Jupiter's cloud bands and Great Red Spot into focus, a level of accuracy that is nearly impossible to achieve with the coarse stock focuser, especially during moments of steady seeing.

Can I still use my Celestron f/6.3 reducer with the Feather Touch Micro Focuser installed?

Yes. The Feather Touch Micro Focuser only replaces the external focusing knob. It does not alter the rear threads or back focus of the telescope, so all standard accessories like focal reducers, off-axis guiders, and cameras will attach and function exactly as they did before.

What is the benefit of the 10:1 fine focus ratio when trying to focus on a star like Vega in my C11 Edge HD?

When using a Bahtinov mask to focus on a bright star like Vega, the goal is to get the central diffraction spike perfectly centered. The coarse stock focuser often overshoots this point. The 10:1 fine focus lets you nudge the focus in tiny increments, making it easy to achieve perfect symmetry in the diffraction pattern for pinpoint stars across your image.
