I bought this mount for visual use with my grand kids. Much more enjoyable for them when objects stay in view, and the app teaches them what else is around specific constellations! Setup was easy but would be nice if Explore Scientific added azimuth adjuster and polar scope built in on mount, also tripod is a little flimsy at full extension in windy conditions. With that said we did rough polar alignment and it tracked very good only had to center a little bit on Sun,Moon and Saturn. It worked pretty well on double stars also, for visual astronomy just what I was looking for! For astrophotography I'm sure you could do short exposure shots with it,but should really get the azimuth adjuster to make it easier for correct polar alignment. You will also want too get a better power pack, the one supplied with mount takes 8 C batteries and they don't last long 2 hours of use! A good 12V power supply or the ES USB power bank are must have items. The app is easy to use and packed with information on all things to do with astronomy. I think this is a great grab and go mount for visual and short exposure astrophotography but if you are planning to get serious about astrophotography you might want to look at a different mount or plan on spending a lot on upgrading this mount! I am only going to give this mount 3 star's because ES didn't include azimuth adjuster, polar scope, heavier tripod. App works great and mount head is very smooth no problems with balance. A good beginner mount to learn with!
