Why use a standalone autoguider?
It removes the laptop from a field setup, which eliminates the largest battery drain, the most cold-sensitive component and a considerable amount of cabling. For portable imaging that is a real advantage.
Can it control my camera too?
Standalone units typically trigger exposures and dither between them, which covers most of a simple imaging sequence. Complex multi-target automation still needs a computer.
Will it work with my mount?
Guiders connect through standard guide ports on most mounts. Tell us the mount model and we will confirm the connection and any cable required.
Is it worth it if I already use a computer?
Generally not, since your existing software already guides and dithers. The value is specifically in removing the computer, not in the guiding itself.
